'Precarius'
is the title given to an ongoing series of paintings started very recently,
October 2010.
In all of them one piece of stretched, painted canvas wraps the inner wood frame-
9 inches thick, front, sides, and back giving the painting a block-like, massive
presence. It always thrills me to create paintings that possess a prepotent
sculptural character. Precarius 11 appears dangling off balance away from
the wall, and Precarius 13 is caught at the point in time when it is cracking
into two separate pieces, the smaller one already starting its unstoppable fall
to the ground.

The painting hungs on the wall by its upper right corne.
This corner appears as if embedded some 7 inches of its thickness into the
wall itself.
One piece of stretched, painted canvas wraps the painting around front, sides,
and back.
