Oils, acrylics, and other media on canvas.

The work is composed of two books,
the cover of one being a portrait of ' her',
and the cover of the other a portrait of 'him'.
Each book is held on the wall by a 1" x 71" aluminum spine.
Each book contains 6 canvas sheets (12 pages). There are 12 paintings in
each book. The two books are separated on the wall by the width of
a single page so as to allow a flipped page from either book to fit snugly
between the pages already displayed at the left and/or at the right.
At any single moment 1, 2, or 3 pages (paintings) can be displayed which
modifies the appearance and the character of the wall itself
The viewer is left to interpret
the significance of a particular, chosen combination of images in the context
of the 'story' she is creating in her mind.
There is a third dimension to this work. Not just width and height,
but also depth. The depth created by recalling, consciously
or not, the different images, and associated meanings, that are hidden
under the present configuration of the work. A bit like recalling
characters and events in a novel one has read, by glancing at the cover
of the closed book.
The material for
'Passione' was gathered from magazines, newspapers, and similar sources
of popular culture, selected for its ability to depict the 'story' forming
in the artist's mind.
These photographs were then cropped, enlarged, modified, and finally painted
or drawn on the canvas sheets in no single predetermined style.
